Popp’s Ferry debris site to close Sunday at sunset

The storm-surge debris site near the Popp’s Ferry Road soccer complex will close Sunday at sunset.

The FEMA-funded site had accepted debris from those areas inundated by the Hurricane Katrina storm surge. No-dumping signs and a fence will be erected at the site Monday morning.

Residents whose property was inundated by the storm surge should place any remaining storm debris on the right-of-way in front of their property. Those residents outside the surge areas must haul any storm debris to a local landfill.

Non-emergency city offices, except for Municipal Court, to close Monday

The City of Biloxi will observe the Veterans Day holiday on Monday, meaning all non-emergency city departments and divisions will be closed that day, but cases scheduled for Monday in Municipal Court will be heard.

Municipal Court operations, which are housed in the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, will be staffed Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with court beginning at 9 a.m.

Court employees will observe the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, when cases are not normally heard.
