Council meets Tuesday afternoon at City Hall

The Biloxi City Council faces an agenda of 30 measures when councilmembers gather Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Among the issues on the agenda: a request for variances for a 162-unit apartment complex, known as McDonnell Avenue Apartments; a request for a master-plan amendment for the operators of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which would propose on-shore gaming as part of the new plan; and a request for a one-year extension of the approvals for Venezia Resort, a condominium proposal on west beach near McDonnell Avenue.

Condo report: Proposals continue

More than 1,700 condominium units have been proposed in Biloxi since June 2006, according to a report updated today by the city’s Community Development Department.

Numbers from the latest report:

— Four projects – accounting for 868 units – are now under construction, representing a permitted construction value of more than $120 million.

— A total of 25 developments – representing 11,815 proposed units – are currently at varying stages in the review process.

— Four projects – representing 549 units – have been constructed since 1995.

The updated report, by the way, now contains more detail about the status of each proposal, including whether it has reached the City Council for approval.
