Good fences make good neighbors, someone once said, and the city wants to make sure any new fencing or repairs in the works are permitted and are built or repaired to code.
The city’s Community Development Department is reminding those replacing or repairing fences to obtain a required permit from the city, which is free if the fence was damaged by Hurricane Zeta. Deadline for the free permits is April.
Of note, says Community Development Director Jerry Creel, is the city’s requirement that the “finished” side of the fencing shall face the perimeter of the lot.
