Dozens of vendors selling farm-fresh produce and homemade goods will be on hand Tuesday morning at 6 when the city formally launches the 2011 season for the Biloxi farmers market.
The outdoor market, formally known as the Charles R. Hegwood Farmers Market, is located on Howard Avenue under the I-110 overpass. It operates each Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., but regulars know that it’s best to shop as early as possible.
And returning this year, reports Sherry Bell of the Parks & Recreation, will be the Farmers Market festivals, where market visitors are treated to free entertainment or how-to sessions on cooking, planting and other issues.
“We’re planning to do a session in June, August and September,” Bell said. “It’s something extra to help people get the most out of the things that they buy at the farmers market.”
