‘Surf’s Up’ on Town Green; other news and notes

As part of this month’s celebration of Recreation and Parks Month, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an evening of fun and games at the Biloxi Town Green and an afternoon family pool party at the Biloxi Natatorium.

Festivities on the Town Green will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and will include a giant water slide, games and contests, followed by the Biloxi Main Street’s movie “Surf’s Up.”

The family pool party will be on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Natatorium and will include games, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and music. Children under the age of 10 who cannot swim must be accompanied by an adult in the pool.

Both events are free, and participants at each event will need to wear proper swim suit attire.

Since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association has designated the month of July to celebrate each city’s summer programming as well as a time to bring communities together through volunteering and involvement in outdoor physical activities.
