City to host free Town Green, Natatorium events

The City of Biloxi and the National Recreation and Park Association have proclaimed July as Recreation and Parks Month.

As part of this year’s celebration, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an evening of fun and games at the Biloxi Town Green, 710 Beach Boulevard, and an evening family pool party at the Biloxi Natatorium, 1384 Father Ryan Avenue.

The festivities on the Town Green will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18 and will include a giant water slide, games and contests which will be followed by the Biloxi Main Street’s movie “Surf’s Up.”

The family pool party will be held on Saturday, July 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Natatorium and will include games, hot dogs, chips, soda and music. All children under the age of 10 who can not swim must be accompanied by an adult in the pool.

Both events are free to the public and all participants at each event will need to wear proper swim suit attire.

Since 1985, the NRPA has designed the month of July as a way to celebrate each city’s summer programming as well as a time to bring communities together through volunteering and involvement in outdoor physical activities.
