City Council to conduct LDO information meetings

The Biloxi City Council will conduct a series of informational meetings beginning later this month to provide information about the proposed Land Development Ordinance and Zoning Map, but residents can review the information now on the city’s web site and at locations throughout the city.

The LDO — which covers regulations on such things as uses of land, height restrictions and setbacks – is the first comprehensive update of Biloxi’s zoning and land-use ordinances in 40 years. It incorporates significant citizen input and field work. Also included in the project is a proposed Zoning Classification Map consistent with the new ordinance.

Here is a schedule of the meetings, which all begin at 6 p.m.:

  • Monday, Aug. 26 – Donal Snyder Community Center, 2520 Pass Road
  • Tuesday, Aug. 27 – Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, 170 Porter Ave.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 28 – Biloxi Community Center, 591 Howard Ave.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10 – Sunkist Country Club, 2381 Sunkist Drive
  • Thursday, Sept. 12 – Joppa Shrine Temple, 13280 Highway 67

At each meeting, an overview of the ordinance and zoning map will be presented. Planning staff will be available to answer questions on a one-on-one basis after the presentation. Objections can be made at a City Council public hearing on Sept. 24 or in writing before that date. Forms for objections will be made available at the meetings.
