The City of Biloxi and Biloxi Main Street will celebrate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary with two free public events highlighting the city’s rich seafood heritage, patriotic spirit, and community traditions.
The festivities begin Friday, July 3, with Stars, Stripes and Seafood, a special evening at the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The event will honor the founding fathers of Biloxi’s seafood industry through live historical reenactments and storytelling presented by costumed interpreters stationed throughout the museum. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the historical figures who helped shape Biloxi into one of the nation’s premier seafood communities.
Admission to the museum will be free during the event, and complimentary seafood and beverages will be available for attendees.
The celebration continues Saturday, July 4, with Red, White, and Biloxi – An America250 Celebration on the Biloxi Town Green from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
The evening will feature patriotic entertainment, including a musical performance and a theatrical production titled “Biloxi—An American Seafood Success Story,” which explores the city’s history and its lasting impact on the American seafood industry.
The Unfazed Show Band will headline the event, providing live music leading up to Biloxi’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display, which can be viewed from the Town Green.
Guests can also enjoy food trucks and arts and crafts vendors throughout the evening. Admission is free.
Together, the two events celebrate Biloxi’s unique place in American history while commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary through stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and community.
Residents and visitors are invited to attend both family-friendly celebrations and experience the history, culture, and traditions that have made Biloxi a cornerstone of Mississippi’s Gulf Coast heritage.
The celebrations, both official America250 events, are made possible through grants from the Mississippi Humanities Council with support from the State of Mississippi.

News & notes: Weekly reports, sandbags, traffic signal outage

Sandbag locations: With heavy rainfall forecast throughout the week, crews have set up three sandbag locations in Biloxi. The self-serve sandbag (bring your own shovel) locations open in Biloxi are: 195 Main St., former water department building; 765 Wells Drive, A.J. Holloway Sports Complex; and 9370 Oaklawn Road, Fire Station 9. Each location will be open 24 hours a day through Friday.
Traffic signal outage: Coast Electric will replace transformers serving the traffic signals on Cedar Lake Road between Love’s Travel Stop and Medical Park Drive on Friday, June 19, from 2 to 7 a.m. This will require desensitizing the traffic lights. Police will be in the area to direct traffic while the work takes place.
