Youngsters sought for annual Children’s Christmas Walking parade

The Christmas on the Water Committee in Biloxi is inviting children ages12 and under to participate in the annual children’s Christmas parade, which takes place Friday, Nov. 30 in downtown Biloxi.

The committee is also offering those in Grades 1-3 the chance to ride on hay-filled wagons in the parade.

Applications to participate in the parade will be distributed through all Biloxi Schools or can be picked up at the Recreation Office in Hiller Park or at the Biloxi Main Street Office in the Creole Cottage across from Biloxi City Hall on Lameuse Street. You can also get an application by clicking here.

Children are encouraged to be creative and dress in their favorite red and green.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at I-110 overpass on Howard Avenue. It will travel east on Howard, along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, south on Lameuse and end at the Town Green, where the city’s Parks and Recreation Department will have hot chocolate and cookies for participants. Santa also will be on hand for photographs with children.

Participants should arrive at the parade starting point no later than 5:30 p.m on Nov. 30. A limited amount of throws will be available for the children, but children are encouraged to bring additional throws. Parents and guardians may accompany their children in the parade.

Applications must be returned to your child’s public school teacher by Nov. 26.
