Weekend preview, other news and notes

Ghosts and goblins will be roaming the Town Green this weekend for “Halloween on the Green,” a community event that will feature games and contests and the outdoor showing of the movie “The Addams Family.”

This Saturday event is free and geared to children ages 12 and under.

Space walks, carnival games, and trick or treating will be conducted between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and a number of games and contests are planned.

In addition, the Biloxi Main Street District Drive-In Movie, “The Addams Family” will begin at dusk.

Halloween on the Green is co-sponsored by the Biloxi Main Street District, and the Beau Rivage and IP casino resorts.

Council preview: The Biloxi City Council faces an agenda of a dozen items when it meets Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Biloxi Community Center on Howard Avenue. To see the agenda and available resolutions, click here.

Gaming revenue: Biloxi’s casino resort market saw revenue drop 15 percent from Fiscal Year 2008 to the just-completed FY ’09. To see the breakdown, as compiled from gaming revenue received from the state, click here. The city also tracks gaming revenue on a calendar-month basis. Although the Biloxi market saw gross gaming revenue drop by $11 million from August to September, the $61.9 million casinos took in during September was only a million off last September.
