Dillard’s, one of the anchors at Edgewater Mall, re-opened its doors today, and Manager Terry Powell says sales have been brisk among the 42 retailers now open at the west Biloxi venue.
Powell guests on today’s Be Prepared report, which also features the latest coronavirus numbers: Three new cases reported in Harrison County, meaning the county has now seen 201 cases of the virus since counting began. No new cases were reported in Hancock or Jackson counties, but the state reported 234 new cases since Monday, bringing the overall statewide total from Day 1 to 9,908 cases. A total of 457 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
Meanwhile, at Edgewater Mall, Powell reports sales have been brisk since the mall opened last week. “These retailers,” he said, “have been pent-up for some time, so I really look to see some great deals. Our goal is to make it a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.”
Although the opening of the mall’s movie theater could be as late as July, Powell said that from June 9 to June 19, more than 100 tons of sand will be moved into the mall and crafted into a sculpture, “Under the Sea,” which will be on display through October.
The mall is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
