Ten former Shuckers on Brewers roster tonight

Ten former Biloxi Shuckers players and coaches are part of the Milwaukee Brewers 2018 NLCS roster that was announced by the Brewers today.

The list includes six Minor League players, three Major League rehab players and former manager Carlos Subero as members of the NL Central Champions playoff roster for the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Infielder Orlando Arcia and pitchers Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader, Freddy Peralta and  Brandon Woodruff all keep their spots on Brewers’ postseason roster after spending time as a Brewers’ farmhand with the Shuckers. Arcia joined the Brewers in 2016, Hader and Woodruff debuted for the big-league club in 2017 while Burnes and Peralta each burst onto the scene with the Brewers in 2018. Pitcher Wade Miley made three appearances for the Shuckers in 2018 on a Minor League contract, pitching his way to a 40-man roster spot with Milwaukee.

In the National League Divisional Series, Burnes, Hader and Woodruff combined to throw 9.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. The trio did not allow a run to score and combined to strikeout 12 in the Brewers’ sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Miley made the start for the Brewers in Game 3, hurling 4.2 innings without giving up a run, surrendering just three hits and a walk while striking out two. Arcia appeared in all three games for the Brewers during the NLDS, going 2-for-8 with a home run, RBI and two runs scored.

Additionally, pitchers Corey Knebel and Junior Guerra and outfielder Domingo Santana all make the Brewers NLCS roster. All three players made a Major League rehab appearance with the Shuckers at some point in their career. Finally, 2015 Shuckers manager Carlos Subero, who was named the Southern League Manager of the Year in his one season with Biloxi, serves as the first base coach and infield coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers host the Dodgers in Game One of the NLCS on Friday night at 7:09 PM CT. The game can be seen on Fox Sports 1.
