Council agenda includes dozens of measures

Zoning issues, board appointments and a taxing issue that would impact Biloxi residents in Woolmarket and Eagle Point are among the three dozen issues on the agenda when the City Council meets Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Included in the zoning measures is a request by W.C. Fore for the city to rezone a Pass Road site from residential to Neighborhood business. Rezoning of the site, which adjoins the Edgewater Estates subdivision, was tabled at the Oct. 2 council meeting.

Councilmembers also will consider a measure that opposes an upcoming referendum facing residents of Woolmarket and Eagle Point. Those residents, who live in Biloxi, pay increased taxes because they are in the Harrison County School District, which is asking voters for approval to borrow $55 million to help address overcrowding in the district.

Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich is asking councilmembers to pass a resolution asking Harrison County to delay the bond issue and seek other alternatives, which could also mean a tax reduction for those in Woolmarket and Eagle Point.
