The City of Biloxi will begin filling openings for the annual Summer Playground and Enrichment Program. Registration for Woolmarket area residents will be Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9 a.m. to noon at Woolmarket Elementary School Gym, 12513 John Lee Road, and for Biloxi residents on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Donal Snyder Community Center, 2520 Pass Road.
The program is for children ages of 5 to 14 and includes the following camp sites: North Woolmarket Elementary Gym, North Woolmarket Middle School Gym, Woolmarket Gym (if 50 or more register), Popp’s Ferry, Jeff Davis, Lopez (if 50 or more register) and Mercy Cross as Teen Camp and Sun Camp. Sun Camp is a camp for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities. All camps will run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with extended care to 6 p.m.  Each site will be limited to 75 campers with the exception of Sun Camp which is limited to 12 campers. Fees are as follows:
Biloxi resident:
- $10 registration fee
- $40 weekly fee for first child, $20 for each additional child
- $50 field trip fee per child – one-time cost
- $60 latch key fee per child –Â one-time cost
Non-Biloxi residents:
- $20 registration fee
- $50 weekly fee for first child, $25 for each additional child
- $50 field trip fee per child – one-time cost
- $60 latch key fee per child –Â one-time cost
The Summer Playground program is an eight to nine week program which begins on Monday, June 2 and ends on either Friday, August 1 or Friday, August 8 depending on school board approval. Through this program, children will have the opportunity to attend field trips along the Gulf Coast, participate in arts and crafts and organized games.
If slots are available, late registration will be Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hiller Park, 377 Hiller Drive.
