Storm season is here. ‘R U Ready?’

Hurricane season begins today and runs through Nov. 30, and a host of disaster-preparation and response authorities offer how-to advice in the new edition of “R U Ready?” on BTV, the city’s municipal TV channel.

The 45-minute program, which airs at 7:45 each morning and evening on BTV, is designed to provide a broad base of information from a variety of sources to help local residents and business owners prepare for storm season. You can also see it each afternoon at 1:45, or on the city’s YouTube page anytime.

The 2021 edition of “RU Ready?” is among the new programs in BTV’s June lineup, which makes its debut today. Also new this month: “Biloxi Cooks!”, the Biloxi VA Today and a new program, “Inside Shuck Nation.”

“RU Ready?”, which was assembled by Amber Krebs of the Biloxi Fire Department and edited by videographer Renny Sherman includes segments featuring:

Biloxi Emergency Manager Nick Geiser; Matt Stratton, Harrison County Emergency Management director; Biloxi CAO Mike Leonard; John McFarland, American Red Cross; Archie Reeves and Lynette Brown of Mississippi Power; Katey Hornsby of the Mississippi Department of Transportation; Brent Gutierrez and Kate Gutierrez, Concrete Building Concepts; Katie King, Humane Society of South Mississippi; Capt. Michael Strickland of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources; Biloxi librarian and historian Jane Shambra; Chris Foret of Coast Transit; and Richard Stickler, Biloxi floodplain manager.

City Council: The Biloxi City Council has its first meeting on the month tonight at 6 at Biloxi City Hall. The meeting will be streamed and can be watched livbe by clicking the live tab on the top right of the city’s website shortly before 6.
