Quality, Seal Avenue take top awards in Main Street decorating contest

Quality Poultry & Seafood, located at the corner of Caillavet and Division streets, and the homes on Seal Avenue have been chosen as the winners in the Biloxi Main Street “Fall Around Downtown” decorating contest.

Businesses and residents throughout the downtown were were encouraged to use scarecrows, skeletons, pumpkins and other items to decorate the exterior of their businesses and homes in festive fall décor.

Besides Quality Poultry & Seafood and Seal Avenue winners, other honorees were:

Business Division: Second place, Lavish Salon, corner of Water Street and Rue Magnolia; third place, Walter Bolton & Associates, corner of Jackson and Fayard streets.

Residential division: Second place, Sherman and Arlene Canaan, Benachi Avenue; third place, Candi Wasilenko, also of Benachi Avenue.

Those interested in voting for a “Peoples Choice Award” can do so through Oct. 30 at the Main Street office, which is in the Bond-Grant House, 932 Howard Ave.

“We have started a fun decorating contest,” said Main Street Director Kay Miller. “Everyone is enjoying viewing all the great decorations.”

Prizes for those who have won in the commercial and residential categories will be presented at Biloxi Main Street’s annual meeting on Oct. 28. For more information on this event, please call the Biloxi Main Street at 228-435-6339.
