Post office renaming in McKeithen’s honor moves forward

U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith announced today that the Senate unanimously passed the bill to rename the post office on Main Street for fallen Biloxi Officer Robert S. McKeithen.

“This shows a great deal of respect for Robert and his family,” said Biloxi Police Chief John Miller. “Robert gave his life right here in Biloxi, for the protection of the citizens. It is well deserved and I respect the decision of Congress and the Senate to pass this legislation.”

Added Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich: “This will be a daily reminder of his dedication to his community and our respect for law enforcement.”

Officer Robert McKeithen was a decorated 24-year veteran of the Biloxi Police Department who was killed in front of the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center on May 5, 2019.

The bill will next be sent to the White House.
