The city will hold a ground-breaking ceremony this week for the last phase of widening Popp’s Ferry Road, from Cedar Lake Road to Lamey Street, the city limits with D’Iberville.
The ceremony, to be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. in front of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi, signals the $6.5 million construction of the 1.25-mile stretch of roadway, which will be widened to four lanes and transition to three at the D’Iberville city limits. Additionally, a 10-foot-wide sidewalk, which could also be used as a bike path, will be constructed alongside the roadway.
Work is expected to be complete in 18 months.
The new roadway was designed by Neel-Schaffer and will be constructed by Lane Construction.
