The four sports fields at the Popp’s Ferry Recreation Complex, the site across from the Margaret Sherry library, are closed until at least May 15 while grass is being replanted, but the adjoining dog park will remain open.
Biloxi Parks & Recreation Director Sherry Bell reports that Harrison County workers will be top dressing the fields and planting grass seed.
“It’s basically a major overhaul,” Bell said of the fields, which have become popular with adult soccer players. “We’re hoping the work will be completed by May 15.”
Meantime, the dog park, which is the first such public area in south Mississippi, will remain open, along with the nearby tennis courts and basketball courts.
