As many as 300 people turned out Friday for the re-dedication and re-lighting of the Biloxi Lighthouse, and in a testament to the popularity of the city’s signature landmark, hundreds more are expected to walk the spiral staircase inside the 65-foot-tall structure today.
Bill Raymond, the city’s historical administrator, said a steady stream of visitors has stood in the median since 10 a.m., when the lighthouse opened for public tours.
Raymond said the tours, which had originally been scheduled to end at 2 p.m., will continue as long as visitors are in line or until dark.
