The Mississippi Department of Transportation is advising U.S. 90 motorists that the far right westbound lane between Main and Caillavet streets is now used for either through traffic or right turns.
MDOT announced Tuesday that directional arrows have been painted in the lane and “right turn only” signs have been removed. The change involves westbound traffic only.
From Caillavet Street to Interstate 110, the lane remains restricted to a right turn only lane for traffic to enter Interstate 110 North.
Maintenance Engineer Todd Jordan said MDOT crews made striping changes to the roadway to allow traffic to flow more efficiently. “Our traffic studies showed the need to modify the striping along that right turn lane to better accommodate motorists,” Jordan said. “As with any roadway changes, we are asking that the traveling public proceed with caution through this area.”
