Library program turns back pages of time

History buffs can get a preview of next weekend’s cemetery tours and discover the importance of journals in a free program Thursday afternoon at the Biloxi Public Library.

The Local History and Genealogy Department at the Biloxi Public Library on Howard Avenue will offer the program Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Two re-enactors – Bill Raymond as longtime Mardi Gras organizer Walter “Skeet” Hunt, and Arthur Bailey as Capt. John Walker, a former Mayor of Biloxi – will be on hand in period garb.

Program organizer Jane Shambra, a research specialist and author, will discuss  journals  and how important they can be to genealogy research.  Samples of specific types of journals will be on display.  In addition,  a new recycling project and a surprise post-Katrina find will be shared.

This event is free and open to the public.  Details: (228) 435-4613 or jane.shambra@gmail.com
