Holloway has surgery, now resting in hospital

Mayor A.J. Holloway was resting comfortably in Biloxi Regional Medical Center Sunday after having surgery Saturday night to repair a perforated colon caused by diverticulitis, a condition not uncommon in those over 60.

The mayor went to Biloxi Regional Saturday after suffering abdominal pains and discomfort.

“He’s fine, awake and alert, and doing well,” said Dr. Frank Martin of Biloxi, who operated on the mayor Saturday night.

Holloway is expected to be in the hospital for several days.
