Here’s your history expo presentation line up

The 2019 Gulf Coast Historical and Cultural Exposition began this morning at the Biloxi Civic Center and includes a dozen presentations and films in the lecture hall. The two-day event continues until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Here is the complete line up for this afternoon and Saturday.  Note, the schedule is subject to change.

Friday, April 26

12 -1 p.m.; Gulf Coast Heritage Tour Project Film, Presentation – Disability Connection

1 – 2 p.m.; Intro to the Architecture of Mississippi Part II: 1900 to 1970

2:30 – 3:00 p.m.; Back Bay Mission Inspiring Change

Saturday, April 27

10 – 11 a.m.; Gulf Park Collection Presentation – Allisa Beck

11 – 11:30 a.m.; Visionary Builder: The Works of Carroll Ishee

11:30 – 12 p.m.; Life on the Water –Film Presentation – Department of Marine Resources

12 p.m. – 1 p.m.; Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church – Greek, Russian, and Ukrainian Dances

1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.; Saving the Cuevas Tomb

1:30 – 2: p.m.; Treasures in Grandma’s Attic: Cool Stuff in Her Hot Attic

The event is free to attend and will also feature informational booths and activities.

Elsewhere this weekend: The annual Crawfish Music Festival takes place at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and includes carnival rides, arts and crafts, vendors, and performances by Justin Moore, Colt Ford, Cole Jones, Jamey Johnson, Blackberry Smoke & Hardy, The Tall Boys, The Chitlins, K99 Homegrown, Travis Tritt, Morgan Wallen, John King and Emily Hackett. Times vary and admission begins at $14. Also, the Biloxi Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual Senior and Special Needs Proms and over at the casinos, Foreigner will perform at the Hard Rock, Jeff Foxworthy will be at the IP, RBRM – Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky & Mike and The Jacksons will each entertain at the Beau Rivage.

News and notes: Infrastructure update, ward meeting, traffic

Monthly road update: Contractors Oscar Renda and Hemphill have the latest on infrastructure work in East Biloxi is this month’s status video. As more pavement goes down, contractors are asking for motorists to slow down. To see the latest video, click here.

Ward 3: Councilmember Dixie Newman had a ward meeting Thursday next at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center. Representatives from key city departments and divisions provided updates on city issues and programs, and answered questions from residents. To see images from the meeting, click here.
