Gilich outlines citywide program of work

Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich showed progress on a host of city projects citywide this morning with his Breakfast with the Mayor presentation and the crowd broke out in laughter when he arrived at a photograph of the new brick-surfaced Howard Avenue, lined with parked vehicles and cars traveling the roadway.

Said Gilich to a roomful of laughter: “It’s supposed to be closed, but there are few people on that.”

The project was one of a dozen or so topics the mayor spoke about during his 25-minute presentation, which was during a Biloxi Chamber of Commerce gathering at the IP Casino Resort & Spa. His presentation was in two parts: 10 minutes of off-cut-cuff remarks guided by a host of photos and renderings, and 14 minutes dedicated to answering questions from the audience.

Among the other subjects covered: infrastructure progress, progress on pedestrian bridges at Caillavet Street and the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor, new construction on East beach, the Point Cadet boardwalk and status of Phase 2 in West Biloxi, Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park, new fire stations north of the Bay, East Biloxi economic development initiatives, Woolmarket infrastructure, the Biloxi Shuckers and MGM Park, and the upcoming Keesler and Biloxi air and space show.
