Get ready for the ultimate Game Day Experience

Main Street Biloxi announced today that it will celebrate the first home game of the Biloxi Shuckers on Saturday, June 6, by staging the Game Day Experience, presented by the Beau Rivage.

Billed as the ultimate tailgate party for the thousands of fans expected to attend the first Shuckers game in MGM Park, the Game Day Experience will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. in Downtown Biloxi. The Vieux Marche will be closed to vehicular traffic from Reynoir Street to Lameuse Street. The event will feature introductions of, and autograph sessions with the Shuckers players, coaches and ownership. Representatives of the Milwaukee Brewers are also expected to attend.

The event is open to the public free of charge, and will include baseball-themed activities and live entertainment. There will be baseball and softball batting cages, a radar gun to check pitch velocity, a whiffle ball home run derby contest, and a special area for children’s games.

“We’ve been planning this event for several months,” explained Kay Carter, executive director of Main Street Biloxi. “We want to bring the Coast community together to celebrate the first home game of the Shuckers in our new stadium. The event is being held within a couple blocks of the stadium and there is plenty of parking available to accommodate the crowd.”

Event sponsors will host autograph-signing sessions with players and coaches. There will be special drawings for team memorabilia and game tickets. The highlight of the event, however, will be a pedestrian escort of the team to the ballpark before the game.

“We’re working with the City of Biloxi to have a walking parade when the players and coaches have to leave the event to go to the stadium to prepare for the game,” explained Carter. “The team will participate in the event until about 3 or 3:30, at which time we’ll escort them to the stadium. Then everyone will come back and enjoy live entertainment, great food and all the other activities until shortly before game time.”

The event stage will be located between Merit Medical Biloxi, formerly Biloxi Regional Medical Center, and Howard Avenue. Food and beverage vendors will be available throughout the afternoon, and special guests will be recognized in honor of Biloxi’s long baseball history.
