Take your seats, ladies and gentlemen. The Friends of the Saenger Theater for the Performing Arts will host a Chair-ity auction,‰ featuring historic and hysteric chairs, on Friday, April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Beau Rivage Camellia Room.
Proceeds from the Beau Rivage-sponsored event will benefit the restoration of the Saenger Theater. Theatergoers and other patrons of the arts will enjoy food, fun and a silent auction showcasing chairs decorated by such luminaries as artists Gail Pittman, Frank Janca and Brian Perkins; Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise; and Mayor A.J. Holloway. Those in attendance also will have a chance to bid on the Saengers original 1929 seats, which are being replaced as part of the $1 million facelift underway at the downtown showplace.
Admission to the Chair-ity Auction is $25 per person (major credit cards accepted) and the dress is casual.
