Family fun events at Hiller and Town Green this weekend

There will be plenty of outdoor activities for families visiting Biloxi this weekend with a family fun day at Hiller Park and a summer festival at Biloxi Town Green.

At Hiller Park, the Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Friends of Hiller Park, will host Splash into Summer on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This will be the second year for this event,” said Parks and Recreation Director Cheryl Bell.  “I think it is a great opportunity for families to spend time together and enjoy an outdoor water experience during this warm weather.”

Families will be able to enjoy water slides, bounce houses, train rides, arts and crafts, carnival games, hamburgers, hotdogs and more. All activities will be set up in Hiller Park, 377 Hiller Drive, on the open fields across from the playground and picnic area.

The event is free to attend, $5 for the children’s area for ages 13 and under, and proceeds from concessions will benefit the revitalization efforts for Hiller Park.

At the Biloxi Town Green, the West End Hose Company #3 Biloxi Fire Museum, along with the Biloxi Fire Department, will host the Jump into Summer Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This two-day family friendly festival will include a kid’s firefighter challenge, fire truck and MDOT safety belt demonstrations, a bounce house, pony rides, carnival rides and food, waterslides, vendor booths, and visits from Pup the Firedog and Schooner, the Biloxi Shuckers’ mascot.

“This is the fourth year for the museum to host this Memorial Day weekend event,” said Fire Chief Joe Boney. “This Fire Museum fundraiser is to not only promote family activities but above all to promote fire safety.”

Added Boney, “We do not want children to be intimated by fire trucks.”

Admission is free. Carnival ride tickets will be available for purchase during the event and $5 allows all day access to the waterslides.
