A Ward 2 political forum is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m., in Margaret Tremmel Peresich Park, just south of Jackson Street across from Biloxi Regional Medical Center, in downtown Biloxi. The forum will be hosted by the downtown merchants and will have a format that allows opening remarks from the candidates, followed by questions from the public.
“We’ve been working hard to maintain the downtown redevelopment momentum, which is important not just to us as merchants, but to everyone in the City of Biloxi in terms of stimulating additional sales tax revenue, diversifying the economy and preserving the heart of our community,” said Lisa Cumbest Michiels, owner of The Side Porch Gallery. “We want to know if the candidates for Ward 2, which includes downtown, will support the continued collaboration we’ve enjoyed with the city and what their position is on other issues that involve public-private partnerships.”
Michiels said the forum will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. and the public, especially Ward 2 residents, merchants and downtown property owners, are encouraged to attend.
