This week in economic development, the Biloxi Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve an application to update the Master Plan for Treasure Bay Casino. Treasure Bay has acquired the former Le Chateau Condominium property and will construct a new landscaped parking lot, which will add an additional 295 parking spaces to the Treasure Bay site. The planning commission’s recommendation will now go before the city council for final approval.
Also this week, the Development Review Committee (DRC) reviewed the first site submittal for the new “Blind Tiger Restaurant” which will be constructed on Beach Boulevard between Shaggy’s and the Blue Crab Restaurants.
On Tuesday, the city council voted to approve the final plat for a new 4-lot commercial subdivision on Popp’s Ferry Road. The new subdivision will provide for a new bank and several other yet to be announced commercial projects. The council also approved the final text changes to the ordinance to allow Seasonal Fireworks Sales as a “Conditional Use” in Regional Business (RB) zoned districts.
We are currently reviewing plans for the new Gulf Coast Rescue Mission, plans for renovations and repairs to Beau View Condominiums, and several single family houses. So far this week, our building permit valuation total is $2.3 million dollars.
