Council to meet Tuesday morning, afternoon

The Biloxi City Council has two public meetings on Tuesday: a 9:30 a.m. meeting to discuss re-districting, and a 1:30 p.m. meeting that will include the first reading of a measure to ban smoking in most public places.

No vote will be taken on the smoking issue, but citizens will have the opportunity to comment on the issue. A vote could be taken at a subsequent council meeting.

Among the other issues on the afternoon agenda on Tuesday: requests for more than $25,000 in funding for boys and girls baseball and softball leagues; approval of duplex or four-plex apartment buildings on Rue Palafox, Althea Street and at Couevas and Division streets; $34,000 in computers for use in the police department; and resolutions involving public works in west Biloxi, at the Popp’s Ferry Causeway and at the commercial docks.
