As many as 40,000 people could attend the Party at the Point on Memorial Day weekend, organizer Elroy Talley of Bluewater Productions announced today.
The three-day outdoor music and arts festival, scheduled for Point Cadet on May 25-27, will feature 19 national recording artists, including such entertainers as Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Lonestar, Robert Rudolph & the Family Band, and Sawyer Brown. A three-day pass for the event is $54, with children under 12 admitted for free.
“If we catch a break with the weather and the economy turns around a little, we could conservatively see as many as 40,000 people,” Talley said during a lunchtime press conference at the Isle Casino to announce the lineup for the inaugural Party at the Point: The Mississippi Gulf Coast Music, Arts, Crafts and Seafood Festival
The event, which will be presented at the easternmost tip of the Biloxi peninsula, the gateway into the city, also will feature more than a hundred arts and crafts vendors
Sponsored by the non-profit group Bluewater Productions, the event is designed to benefit the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and its efforts to construct, restore, and maintain inshore fishing reefs along the Mississippi Gulf Coast; and the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in its ongoing efforts in rebuilding its museum destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
