Community Festival at Point Cadet this weekend

Dozens of people are expected to gather at Point Cadet Plaza Saturday for the Biloxi Police and Fire departments’ annual Biloxi Community Festival Against Crime.

The public will get a close-up look at the city’s emergency-response equipment, meet police officers and firefighters and receive safety tips on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visitors will have a chance to spend the afternoon learning about the police and fire departments, seeing their high-tech equipment, and learning how to avoid becoming a victim of crime and preventing fires in the home.

The family event will feature games such as a kids firefighter obstacle course, door prizes, giveaways, and free food. Among the first responders participating in the affair are the Biloxi Police Department’s dive and rescue team, bomb squad, and the traffic, bicycle and canine divisions.  Members of the Biloxi Fire Department will also be showing off firefighter vehicles and equipment.
