City to debut monthly radio show Friday

The City of Biloxi, which has won a state award for its former “City Desk” radio show, will be back on the airwaves with a new monthly radio show that makes its debut Friday morning on the new talk radio 1640, WTNI-AM.

The show will air from 9 to 10 a.m. the first Friday of each month as part of the Kevin Cruise morning show. Mayor A.J. Holloway plans to discuss a variety of city projects and issues during the first show Friday, and key city staffers each month will join Biloxi Chief Administrative Officer Jim Borsig and Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel.

The program will also include calls from audience members. The numbers are 896-TALK or 1-866-450-TALK.

WTNI, which was scheduled to begin broadcasting this afternoon, plans to feature other Coast cities Friday mornings of each month. The City of Gulfport will be featured the third Friday of each month.

“We’re hoping to have an exchange of opinions on important issues on the Coast on a constant basis,” said Cruise, who previously hosted a morning talk show on WCPR-FM and has been broadcasting on the Coast for seven years.

Biloxi previously broadcast a weekly “City Desk” program on WVMI and, later, WQYZ-FM, but the show moved to the World Wide Web after the sale of WQYZ. In fact, to hear this week’s webcast, which was taped this morning, click here.
