City of Biloxi Celebrates National Senior Health and Fitness Day – May 2010

(Biloxi) – The City of Biloxi Parks and Recreation Department will join in on the celebration of the 17th Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day with the 2010 Senior Health and Wellness Expo held on Wednesday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Donal Snyder Community Center, 2520 Pass Road.

The Expo, sponsored by the City of Biloxi and the Area Agency on Aging, is to promote an active, healthy lifestyle through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care for seniors age 50 and older. Cholesterol screenings will be available for a minimal fee as well as free health screenings and wellness information. Refreshments will be served.

National Senior Health & Fitness Day is held on the last Wednesday of May in support of Older Americans Month and National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Organizations around the country host local events for seniors to encourage each to make a commitment to living a healthier life through better health and fitness.
