Children’s parade rolls through downtown

Record crowds lined Lameuse Street and Howard Avenue this morning to witness the annual Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade, where more than 300 children were registered to ride decorated bikes, trikes and other non-motorized vehicles through downtown to City Hall.

And youngsters were recognized from more than nearly 50 who registered for the post-parade costume contest in front of City Hall.

The 2020 costume contest winners:

Age up to 2 years old: first place, Connor Williams; second place, Emmarie Grace Chapman; third place, Noah Pariona.

Ages 3 to 5 year old: first place, Ellie Fish; second place, Aubree Abbenante; third place, Parker Knox.

Ages 6 to 12 years old: first place, Bentley Palmer; second place, Drea Bankston; third place, Aurora Balla.

The 2020 float contest winners:

Regular float: first place, Aubree Abbenante; second place, Leah Hayes; and third place, Gray Logan.

Large format float: first place, Noah Pariona; second place, Parker and Ella Knox; and third place, Aurora Balla, Ellie and Max Fish, Mackenzee.
