A broken water main, which crews hope to have repaired tonight, is limiting westbound traffic to one lane on U.S. 90 at Main Street and closed a one-block section of Main just north of the highway. Workers from ECO Resources, the city’s water contractor, discovered the broken 12-inch main this morning and have been working on repairs throughout the day.
Since ECO was able to isolate the main, no water service has been interrupted to city customers, but an average of 35,000 vehicles per day travel the section of U.S. 90 the emergency repair work is being done.
Biloxi Police officers have helped direct traffic at the Main and U.S. 90 intersection throughout the day and are advising motorists to proceed with caution in that area.
