Here’s the lineup for Blues Over Biloxi

Blues over Biloxi is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and end at 3:30, according to the latest schedule, issued by David Shultz Air Shows. Gates at Harrah’s Great Lawn, the premium viewing location, open at 9 a.m.

Here’s what you’ll see:

1 p.m. – Opening ceremony and National Anthem performed by Air Force Maj. Sarah Abel, a flight commander nurse at Keesler Medical Center. Biloxi Fire Department color guard also will participate in opening ceremony.

1:04 p.m. – USAF F-16 Demonstration

1:19 p.m. – USAF Heritage Flight (F-16 and P-51)

1:29 p.m. – USAF KC-135 Flyby No. 1

1:31 p.m. – US Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry Flyby No. 1

1:34 p.m. – USAF KC-135 Flyby No. 2

1:36 p.m. – U.S. Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry Flyby No. 2

1:38 p.m. – Lee Leets Tucano Demonstration

1:53 p.m. – Warbird Flight (three passes) Stearmans, Waco, Varga, J3, CJ-6, RV-12, Chipmunk.

2:35 p.m. – USN Blue Angels

3:30 p.m. – Airshow ends.

The schedule for Sunday is the same, except the Blue Angels portion of the show begins at 2:15 p.m.

Air show on the air

WROA: Beginning at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, WROA will have narration of the show. Tune in at AM 1390 or FM 100.1.

WLOX: WLOX, on its CBS channel, will carry the show live on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

 

Ground broken for Cedar-Popp’s fire station

Biloxi Fire Department leaders joined Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and others for a ground-breaking ceremony this morning at the future site of a new $4.2 million fire station, on Popp’s Ferry Road east of east of Cedar Lake. Station 7 will be a battalion-size operation, totaling 13,000 square feet, and is expected to be complete a year from now.

“This has been talked about for a while and we are happy to say it is happening now,” Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich said this morning at the ceremony.  “We are thankful to all who have helped us to make this project happen.”

News & notes: Weekend preview, B-Alert, Health Fair, Immunization Fair

Weekend preview: The Biloxi Shuckers will take on the Tennessee Smokies at MGM Park with the first pitch at 6:35 tonight and Saturday, and 4:05 p.m. on Sunday; Skid Row and Vixen will perform at the Hard Rock; and Atlas Fights 33 will be presented at the IP. Children’s Health Fair:  The Rotary Club of Edgewater will hold its annual Children’s Health Fair, with free back-to-school screenings, on Saturday from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Edgewater Mall. To see the flyer, click here.

Immunization Fair:  The Biloxi Excel By 5 will begin its four-day Immunization Fair on Saturday at the Coastal Family Health Center on Division Street. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon and will continue Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the immunization fair will be at Lopez School, from 9 a.m. to noon. To see the flyer, click here.
