Biloxi under tornado watch until 6 p.m.; other news and notes

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Biloxi and the surrounding area until 6 this evening. A watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form.

Besides Harrison County, the watch area includes portions of southeast Louisiana.

The weather service said scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to continue into the evening as a cold front moves across the area. Some thunderstorms could be severe and accompanied by damaging winds, the weather service said.
