BILOXI NATATORIUM REOPENS

The City of Biloxi, Biloxi Natatorium will reopen its doors to the public on Monday, June 9 at 6 a.m. and will resume with its summer hours of Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for adults, 1 to 8 p.m. for children and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all ages.

The Natatorium, which closed December 23, 2007 for renovations, is in the process of having a $1.23 million project completed.

“The facility has received some major improvements such as the resurfacing of the pool” said Recreation Superintendant Jamie Lee. “Though we have not yet completed all the projects, they will be finished soon.”

In addition to public swim, the Natatorium will begin its summer swim lessons and Biloxi Red Tide Swim Team.

“We are very excited to resume our aquatics programs at this facility and we anticipate a great summer,” stated Head Lifeguard Danny Walton.

Biloxi Natatorium was originally built as an outdoor pool in the early 1980s and became an enclosed pool in 1988 allowing the facility to be open year round. The Olympic size pool currently has a retractable roof, showers, changing rooms and offers recreational swimming to all ages as well as swim lessons and swim teams.
