Biloxi Lighthouse fair is Saturday

More than 50 local artists and craftsmen will be selling everything from jewelry to one-of-a-kind art work on Saturday during the fifth annual Lighthouse Arts and Crafts Fair.

The event, which will he on the lawn and inside the Biloxi Visitors Center, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Visitors Center is at 1050 Beach Blvd., immediately north of the Biloxi Lighthouse.

“Visitors can shop with the local artists who have helped support the visitors’ center gift shop,” said Bill Raymond, the city’s historical administrator and manager of the Visitors Center.  “Plus they can enjoy the cars cruising along U.S. 90.”

In addition to supporting local artists, visitors will have the chance to climb the Biloxi Lighthouse during one of the free tours offered every 30 minutes throughout the day.  Children’s activities also are planned.

“We will also be unveiling our annual Lighthouse Christmas ornament,” Raymond said.  “This year’s ornament features the photography of well-known Coast photographer Alex North.  There is a limited supply and as in years past, they will sell out quickly.”

Admission to the fair is free and refreshments will be available for purchase from Friends of Hiller Park.  The West End Hose Co. No. 3 Fire Museum will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs.

Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and watch the cruisers while enjoying the gulf breeze.
