Biloxi landmark illuminates in gold

In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Biloxi is lighting the lighthouse in gold for the month of September.

There will be a lighting ceremony on Thursday at 8 p.m. across from the Biloxi Visitors Center, 1050 Beach Blvd., at the base of the historic Biloxi lighthouse. Worldwide, 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. The City of Biloxi has joined efforts with the St. Baldricks Foundation to bring awareness to the impact childhood cancer has on children and their families.

In addition, the City of Biloxi is asking citizens and merchants to display a gold ribbon on their homes and businesses to show support.
