Biloxi civic leader and former school board member Jaye Brice, sister of Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich, will be the roastee for the 14th annual Biloxi First Roast, which will take place Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at the IP Casino Resort Spa.
The event is the major annual fundraiser for Biloxi First, a non-profit organization that has provided more than a quarter-million dollars in funding for innovative classroom projects in Biloxi Public Schools.
Brice, wife of Biloxi pediatric dentist Dr. C.A. “Buddy” Brice, was named Biloxi’s Outstanding Citizen in 2013, Biloxi Lion of the Year in 2016 and has been involved in a number of organizations that have provided opportunities for youth of the community.
She is a Biloxi native and a 1973 graduate of Biloxi High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1977 from Louisiana State University, where she also served as a LSU Golden Girl. She was Miss Biloxi in 1975 and Miss Baton Rouge in 1976.
She has served as the chair of the Mississippi Camellia Queen Scholarship Pageant, a project of the Biloxi Lions Club, for more than 20 years, and oversees tryouts for the LSU Golden Girls and Saintsations.
Roasters for the affair will be Jeff Elder, Greg Crapo, Susie Bass, Robert Collier, and Alwyn Luckey. Reed Guice will serve as emcee, and Vincent Creel will present a video, “Jaye Brice, this is your life.”
Tickets are $50 for an individual; $250 for a patrons sponsor, which admits two; or a $1,000 reserved corporate table for 10.
