Biloxi Fire Museum to kick off new season

Biloxians and visitors to the city will celebrate the 120-year history of the Biloxi Fire Department on Saturday when the Biloxi Fire Museum launches a new season.

The museum, formally known as Biloxi’s West End Hose Company No.3 Fire Museum, is open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is located on Howard Avenue, a block east of Porter Avenue, at 1046 Howard Ave., in a 1930s-era fire station.

The museum contains exhibitions of many historic photographs and antique fire equipment that document the 120-year history of the Biloxi Fire Department. It traces the history of the fire department from its humble origin as an all-volunteer group to today, when it is recognized as one of the best-trained and best-equipped departments of its size.
