The Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department will host its Summer Movie Series tonight at the Biloxi Town Green with the showing of the 2017 Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast”.
Grab a lawn or blanket and be part of the family fun beginning at 6 p.m. You’ll find a variety of children’s field day games, Belle will be available for pictures, and the movie begins at dusk.
Admission is one can or bag of dog or cat food per person. The donations will be given to the Human Society of South Mississippi.
The Movie Series, which originally began last month but was cancelled because of inclement weather, is a sequence of movies with fun activities on the Biloxi Town Green. The next events are Friday, July 14 and Friday, Aug. 11.

The Saints Hall of Fame Weekend continues Saturday with the Kids Experience Training Camp at MGM Park from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and the Saints Experience featuring autograph and photograph sessions with current players and Hall of Famers, a silent auction, and live entertainment from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Harrah’s Great Lawn.
The Biloxi Shuckers tonight launch a five-night homestead against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. In fact, you may be able to meet some of the Saints players at the game tonight, and then on Saturday, it’s another post-game fireworks extravaganza.
Newscaster David Elliott dukes it out with Kevin “George Ohr” O’Brien at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Saturday night, and the 21st Annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Tournament continues at Point Cadet Marina with weigh-ins this afternoon and Saturday afternoon. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday.

News and notes
Traffic advisories: The Cedar Lake Road bridge will have intermittent closings Saturday from 7 until 11:30 a.m. to allow maintenance on the bridge. The intersection of Division and Reynoir streets will be closed to traffic all next week for infrastructure work. To see the status of road and infrastructure work throughout the city, click here.
Water main break: Biloxi Public Works crews are working to repair damage to a 16-inch water main on Pass Road at Pringle Circle. A company working in the area bored through the line. No reports of service interruptions at this writing, but some lanes of traffic are closed in the work area.
Visitors from England: The Biloxi Police Law Enforcement Explorers Academy begins this weekend with nearly a hundred cadets enrolled, including 14 from England. The visitors stopped by City Hall this morning to meet the mayor. To see images from the meeting, click here.
Summer camp nutrition: In honor of the city’s partnership in the Summer Food Service Program, the city’s Summer Playground and Enrichment Program conducted a day of activities today at the Point Cadet Plaza. To see images from the event, click here.
Inauguration: The date, time and place have been set. Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and members of the City Council will take the oaths of office during a ceremony on Wednesday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Saenger Theater. Then, a week later, on Wednesday, July 5, the first City Council meeting of the new term will be held at City Hall at 6 p.m.
