Sign up now for Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade

The City of Biloxi, Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum, and Gulf Coast Carnival Association invite children ages 12 and younger to be part of the Biloxi Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. in Downtown Biloxi.

Participants may walk, bike, skate, or be pushed or pulled in strollers and wagons. No motorized vehicles are allowed.

The theme of the parade is “Leaving you Spellbound.” Children and families are encouraged to be in costume and decorate their bicycles or wagons in the spirit of the theme, “which celebrates how you feel when you are left spellbound about famous places you have seen.” For example, parade organizers say suggestions for float themes could include Gulf Coast sunsets, the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Voodoo, Houdini/magic, and the Egyptian pyramids.

Applications will be distributed through Biloxi schools and are available at the Biloxi Visitors Center, 1050 Beach Blvd, Biloxi Parks & Recreation office, 377 Hiller Dr., Biloxi Recreation centers, and the Gulf Coast Carnival office and Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum, 792 Howard Ave. The forms can also be downloaded from the city’s website at biloxi.ms.us.

Applications must be returned to the child’s school or the Biloxi Parks & Recreation office by Wednesday, Jan. 31.

For more information, contact the Biloxi Parks & Recreation office weekdays by calling 228-388-7170.
