Local artists and craftsmen will showcase and sell their creative works this Saturday during the Biloxi Visitors Center’s Autumn Artisan Festival.
The free, public event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving shoppers the opportunity to meet talented local artisans and find unique, handmade arts and crafts. More than 30 vendors will be set up on the front lawn and inside the Visitors Center’s front lobby, located at 1050 Beach Blvd., in the shadow of the historic Biloxi Lighthouse. Vendor applications are being accepted through the close of business today.
The Autumn Artisan Festival is also partnering with Downtown Main Street’s “Sip and Shop” event on Howard Avenue, making it easy for visitors to enjoy both events. During the festival, the Biloxi Tour Train will provide free rides from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., connecting visitors with neighboring businesses and adding to the day’s festivities and more shopping opportunities.
“We are excited about kicking off the holiday shopping season by showcasing more than 30 talented artisans,” said Visitors Center Manager Onnie Gazzo. “The Biloxi Visitors Center also offers a wide variety of unique gifts in our gift shop that are made right here in Biloxi and in our surrounding communities. This event showcases and celebrates these local, talented artisans.”
The Biloxi Visitors Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with its gift shop open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., located in the first-floor lobby.

News & notes: Weekly reports, Halloween event participants
The week that was: Last week, the Community Development Department issued 60 permits with a total valuation of more than $3 million. Halloween participation: The Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department is asking local businesses, organizations, and community groups to pass out candy for the annual Halloween on Howard event set for Oct. 17 and the Trunk or Treat at Eagle Point Park event set for Oct. 24.
