Organizers of the Biloxi Firefighters Day Parade are seeking parade entries.
The Firefighters Day Parade, scheduled to roll through downtown Biloxi on Saturday, Sept. 18 at noon, will be marking the 100th anniversary of the West End Hose Co. No. 3, one of the city’s early firefighting companies.
The West End Hose Co. was one of three such bands of volunteers in Biloxi responsible for delivering hose carts to fires. The company was active until the early ‘50s when the city began providing full-service fire protection.
Among the events planned in conjunction with the parade: a children’s fishing rodeo, a static display of firefighting equipment, vehicles and memorabilia, a children’s challenge.
The parade will begin at Point Cadet Plaza and travel through downtown and end at the West End Hose Company No. 3 Fire Museum, which is at 1046 Howard Ave.
The museum will host a free reception at the end of the parade.
The parade committee is inviting anyone with antique fire trucks or communities with firefighting vehicles to take part in the parade.
