Work continues on U.S. 90 in east Biloxi

Motorists on U.S. 90 in east Biloxi are reminded to use caution as MDOT crews continue on the first phases of a $92 million project that will see new asphalt, traffic signals, curbing and sidewalks installed from Biloxi Bay to St. Louis Bay.

In east Biloxi, intermittent lane closures are required between Myrtle and Main streets as the highway is being milled and overlayed, and new signals, curbs and sidewalks are being installed.

Volunteers to be at Ohr site this weekend

Volunteers from throughout the Southeast are expected to gather Saturday , at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art construction site in east Biloxi.

The volunteers are preparing the property for the Dec. 1 public celebration of the Return of the Ohr Gallery Pods.

Those interested in participating should show up Saturday at 8 a.m. with rakes and wheelbarrows. Delta Sanitation is donating dumpsters for the day.

Volunteer groups signed up to date include Hands On Biloxi; Americorps; Keesler AFB; representatives of the East Biloxi Design Studio; and cadets from The Citadel.

Weekend preview: Smothers Brothers, Vets and more

Among the events on tap this weekend: appearances by the Smothers Brothers at the Beau Rivage, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Coast Coliseum, and a Veterans parade in downtown Gulfport.

City holiday: Non-emergency municipal offices and divisions will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day. All are scheduled to re-open at their appointed times Tuesday.

Bridge work: Motorists in north Biloxi are reminded that city contractors will be making repairs to the steel grid of the Popp’s Ferry Road bridge Monday and Tuesday from 6 p.m. to midnight.
