Women in Construction program seeks students

The Women in Construction program at Moore Community House in Biloxi, which has graduated more than 400 women since 2008, is now enrolling for its next class, and you can find out more during an information session on Feb. 7.

The free, full-time, eight-week basic construction course provides students the needed tools to enter the construction trade and advanced manufacturing industries, including hands-on skills, industry-recognized credentials, and job placement and case management assistance.

The center also offers child care and transportation assistance to eligible participants.

There is no cost to apply, but space is limited. To qualify, you must be interested in a construction career, be 17 years or older, and be able to perform demanding physical labor.

To begin the process, visit www.moorecommunityhouse.org/winc-registration and register for one of the upcoming information sessions. You may also call to sign up at 228-297-0994.

Information sessions are held at the Women in Construction Training, Resource and Employment Center, 684 Walker Street in Biloxi.
